In the heyday of advertising the grandfather of Spencer Barr’s founders, Wilfred Winston Buckland (Win), worked on marketing for brands including Edmonds, Shell Oil, Bovril, Dulux, and Watties.
Win was a man with diverse skills, endurance, and a very sharp intellect. An ex-serviceman, he not only survived his ship being bombed but saved a comrade after hours in the sea without lifejackets. Win’s talents were diverse and he had many passions. He was a gifted water polo player, and a mathematician. He loved new ideas, new cultures and, above all, his family. Win also had a strong creative streak. He named Fido Dog Food and Felix Cat Food – breakthroughs in their day which became market leaders.
Win believed in delivering value, one of his traits Spencer Barr has inherited.
Today, at Spencer Barr, Win’s ability to integrate creativity, strategy, and finance is combined with digital and web specialization, thanks to a diverse, experienced, and collaborative team.
